After Eileen and family had emigrated to Australia I remember my grandma (Eileen's mum) coming to our house every week. She always had the latest thin airmail from Eileen which she loved to show my mum.

Occasionally grandma would ring Australia from our house, but even in the 1960s it was £1 a minute. She always used to beg for “just 1 more minute, please".
